Federal-Mogul recently launched a new Abex drum brake block that meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 for reduced stopping distance requirements. The new brake block will not only increase trucker safety, but reduce crash rates and keep the roadways safer for all drivers.

The reduced stopping distance brake block has three application-specific formulations to enhance the device's performance while still meeting the FMVSS standard. The block comes with a 20,000-pound axle rating copper-free formulation, a 29,000-pound axle rating for RSD and severe service application, as well as a 23,000-pound axle rating, Trucking Info reported.

In addition, Bosch recently introduced a new series of QuietCash medium duty disc brake pads designed to give medium-duty vehicles better stopping power, increased pad life, quieter stops, low dust levels and a strong pedal feel for the driver, Trucking Info reported.

The medium-duty brake pads are designed to counter many factors that can wear on pads over time to prolong the products' life, including vehicle weight and duty cycles for the truck. The friction compounds in the pads were specifically selected to increase reliability while reducing sound, TI reported.
